Physical Preparation

Marriage Preparation for the Virgin Bride.
Preparing for a wedding is exciting and you want everything to go smoothly. There is one important area that is often overlooked in preparation for a wedding, and I am not talking about who brings snacks for the bridal party on location. A virgin bride will find sexual intimacy far more enjoyable if she has been physically preparing in the months leading up to the wedding. How can one physically prepare for sex?
Dr Kevin Leman is his book Sheet Music, mentions the importance of seeing a doctor at least three months before the wedding day. A doctor can inspect and see if the hymen is normal. A pelvic exam can determine quickly if a woman has potential for vaginismus (involuntary spasm of the vaginal muscles). If that be the case, a doctor would suggest gradual stretching of the vagina using dilators ranging in size from tiny right up to very large. This preparation can prevent painful intercourse and make the honeymoon far more enjoyable.
A bride-to-be may also like to discuss with her doctor the option of breaking her hymen if she so desires. Only rarely would medical intervention be necessary as most hymens stretch with dilation.

To have a positive first sexual experience is important because initial pain can lead to fear of recurring pain, making it difficult to relax, which can then in turn lead to more pain. This is one area of preparation that should not be overlooked.  It is far more common than people realize.

This physical preparation does not have to be clinical. She can use her fingers. There is nothing wrong with self-exploration for this purpose. Gentle, gradual stretching is the goal. She should stop at the point of discomfort (before pain) and take a break. This process can take as long as needed and should not be rushed. Weeks or even months of daily stretching is recommended.
